Wendell Willkie

Opposing Franklin D. Roosevelt for a third term, Wendell Willkie was the Republican candidate for President in 1940. After Roosevelt won a third term, Willkie traveled, as FDR’s special envoy, throughout the world, visiting allied heads of state during World War II.

He published a book titled One World, which called for some sort of world government.. It sold three million copies, topping the New York Times bestseller list from May to September 1943.
